Real reason why Alex Ferguson Retired from football
Former Manchester United Coach Sir Alex Ferguson has finally revealed why he had to retire from active football in 2013. Things have not been the same after he left. Ferguson hand picked his successor David Moyes to carry on with the club tradition.
However, David Moyes could not leave to expectation and was a huge failure. He was sacked in his first season while Manchester United could only manage the seventh position on the League table.
Ferguson had planned to retire in 2002 but his wife had convinced him to remain with the Red Devils. Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that the real reason why he retired from active football was about the death of his wife’s (Cathy) twin sister, Bridget, in 2012 and how big of a role that played in his decision to step down after winning his 13th Premier League title.
“I definitely would have carried on,” Ferguson revealed. “But this time when I told her I was going to retire she had no objection. I knew she wanted me to do it.
