Asmir
Begovic has signed a four year deal with Chelsea Football Club. He is to
replace Petr Cech who has gone to Arsenal and Begovic will become second choice
keeper. The deal worth 8million pounds completes his move from Stoke City to
Chelsea on a four year deal.
Ever since
Petr Cech made his move to Arsenal, Jose Mourinho has been chasing a
replacement and has been on the tail of the Stoke City keeper for some weeks
now. After five
years of playing regular football for Stoke City, Begovic will provide a
healthy competition for the Chelsea first choice keeper, Thibaut Courtois.
Begovic is
expected to continue to wear the No1 shirt vacated by Cech as the English
Premier League begins next month since Courtois
has opted to remain with his No13 shirt.
Begovic, the
Bosnia and Herzegovina international tweeted a message of thanks to everyone at
Stoke City and explained why his decision of leaving the club for Chelsea after
having spent five glorious years at Stoke.
